We had about an hour before our flight would leave for
JFK. We stopped at a restroom on the way
to our terminal and I noticed my phone was gone. I scrambled throughout my purse with
panic. I raced back to the restaurant
and there it was under the table where we had slept. The cook saw me and I just
waved and said, “I came to get my phone.” He smiled, understanding our desperation. We had Chick-Fil-A for breakfast and waited for our flight to JFK. During our EIGHT
hour wait, I tried to work on my AgBot videos but I was so tired I was afraid
I’d mess it up so I stopped. Tiffany gave in and took a spot on the floor by
the window and slept. When she woke up,
we explored the airport a little and had a late lunch. Since this was supposed
to be our first day in Rome, we were a little bummed. We had already paid for our room for this
night and had tours for the Colosseum which could not be refunded. Just a few more hours and we’d start his
journey.

Finally at 5:30 we boarded our flight. We were able to get seats together, three
rows from a restroom. I had an aisle
seat since I’m a frequent flier to the restroom but Tiffany was a little
smushed between me and another passenger. We both tried to watch Lady
Bird. I had to pause the movie a few
times for spontaneous moments of unconsciousness. Tiffany lasted about ten minutes till she was
overcome with exhaustion.
A couple of hours into the flight, we were served dinner. (Pasta, salad, brownie). After dinner we both succumbed to slumber. Not easy to
get quality sleep on the airplane but we did manage to get some rest during
this 8 hour flight. Thanks, Denise, for
the pillows. They were life savers in
both the airport and on the plane.
